Racism and the Nonsense Policies

I am writing this in an angry mood. I am ashamed of my own people and the members of my race who are really scared and reluctant to accept that Malaysian is consist of not just Malay but others as well. This is basic common ideas of having a nation, where everyone of Malaysian should felt safe and free from any hatred and threats.

Let see, what is the problem exactly, why can’t the Malay accept that Malaysian are not just us but everyone else?

  1. Race based party! Few decades ago, we could be saying that race based party is important to ensure that every race need and demand were represented by the party. However, having a race based party currently in Malaysia just created more problem than it benefit to our nation, why? Because in order for politician to stay relevant, they have to – by any means – created hectic situation (maybe throw some suspicion, hatred speech, out of context quote and other malicious way) in order to keep their supporter leaning toward them. By saying that, politician might use race card/agenda to win people’s support (I believed we still have a lot of conservative who’d refuse to accept the fact that Malaysia is a multiculture societies). This idea of race based party is more dangerous than it’s benefit to our country. Nation cannot run by people who instill hatred and suspicion towards our other brothers and sisters who does not belong to the same race or religion.
  2. Too much ‘Islam’ intervention in policy making. I bet many people will disagree with me, but let me tell you this; Islam is the way of life, all Muslim knew that, when Islam was then associated with governance, every government position will be reflected as Islam position, BUT government is’nt Islam and it will not always perfect in making decision, since everyone has their own demand. I am not saying this because of idea that I adapted in my daily life, but this is the problem that we need to address in order to move on from decades of propaganda and mismanagement. It will take one Non-Muslim to spark racial flares, when the system or policies made by government criticised. I am not saying we should adopt secular approach in our governance system. There must be one better solution to end this from continuing, maybe good liberal approach to contain Islam from misunderstanding, and created balance way of govern.
  3. Affirmative Action. I could possibly say, these status quo practice since 60 years ago, will only create disparity between our people. Why? Because the Malay will always felt that they entitled to 90 percents of government position, IPTAs enrollment, Reserve Land, and government aid every festive season or during disaster. Non-Malay might felt intimidated (I believed they felt these for quite some time) due to these policies practise by our hiring departments. And both Bumi and Non-Bumi will always demand for their own benefit, which at last will lead to races instability and suspicion between each other. Rather than the affirmative action, it would be rather just and equal to have a merit-based system (as Singapore practice) or better need-based policy. How will need-based policy help? As we know, not all Malay are poor but we cannot deny that mostly Malay community are poor, however, Malaysia still have Chinese, Indians, and other races who also poor and needed government assistances. You may check the Department of Statistic in Malaysia for future reference, if we create our own need-based policy, everyone despite of their race and religion will be able to move forward. We can possibly end the racial as well as income disparity nationwide.

Thus, in facing human or societies, every instrument of government should be able to provide understanding to people, as we did not want any misinformation which will lead to failure of our goodwill. Multirace political parties, please do not just focus your campaign on the urban areas, but please do spread your wings to other rural locality as well. I wish everyone well and happy Eid-Fitri, may we can get through COVID-19 together as human.
