Democracy has it flaws, a man-made system which by far is the best political system proved better than any other. The values are pure, but the intention of political figures might tainting the core value of it. We have seen how our democracy system misused by the elites who has their own political agendas. We might never move forward, if there arent any reform toward it. The system is to be upgraded, once we found faulty on current one. I am giving opinion on how should we reform the settings, however I do believe many has said it, this are purely my opinions.

  1. Reform on each parties manifesto – RoS should play a big part on this (no races/religious sensitivity played by parties). Everyone including all Malaysian should be by today move forward with Malaysian spirit, and not fragmented into races or religions anymore. Parties will kept playing sensitive issues if we people kept fall for their tricks. I would proposed to banned all race-based party (or the extreme one).
  2. The Prime Minister shall be voted in different election, which he must be nonpartisan and people can hold him responsible for any executive measures he took in office. Some will say what are the differences of Malaysia and USA then? While in the United States – President has limited power on states matter, it might be different for Malaysia as we practise centralise power on federation. State has their own job while federal has theirs. This is by my opinion is an important keypoint to provide freedom for the executive to perform their duties without the influences of political parties and lobbyist. They should be given one period to serve and termination shall be possible if they are proved to be biased and committed any corruption (education, crimes, and attitude). In the US, vetting of the executive candidate has become norms before one of them going to serve in office. While we aren’t adapting their way of diffusion of power practices, the values are there, and we have to consider in adopting them.
  3. Executive members (Ministers) must consist of people of great academic background or respective portfolios they will hold. This will then not anyhow affected if political scene in Malaysia faces certain turmoil or changes. I am strongly believed that if Minister didn’t influenced by parties, we might move forward and better than any developing nation (why? Because they can focus on the nation good without fear of failure to deliver majority demand – since the minister obliged to serve every one).
  4. There might be some problem encounter by executive when one laws/enactment to be passed by legislative. However, I believed Malaysian members of Parliament still have the goodwill to represent Malaysian in Dewan Rakyat. Or else they will face consequences in future general election. This proposition are to ensure that no members of parliament – hold too much power and portfolios where they might not be able to perform duty and task as they should.
  5. Notwithstanding any argument that we might put the YdPA in constitutional crisis, the YdPA still shall be giving his royal consent to anyone holding executive post and officiate any Parliamentary sessions.
  6. The political system we adopted these 60 years should be upgraded since we have seen quite several situation which might lead to abusive of executive and legislative power. Moreover, the representation in higher position seem unequal and unjust with quite a few representative from other races/religions/group of people rather than the majority.

How will this help Malaysian? I dont know so far how this measures I mentioned could help the poor, and the minority group. But I do believe if we stick to our core values of democracy (where everyone’s demand shall be represented and there is no absolute power between all the highest post), we might have bright future for our demand to be meet even it is not popular. Segregation and meticulous division of policies (this shall be the responsible of Ministers) and laws/finance (shall be the legislature obligation) is a must to revisit and rewrite to ensure the clear division and prevents any breaching of both.

This is only my opinion.
